Beliefs
The following statements are the absolutes of our faith in Jesus Christ and are eternally essential:
1) There is One God!
- Deuteronomy 6:4 (ESV)
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. - Ephesians 4:6 (ESV)
one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
2) Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh!
- John 1:1 (ESV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. - John 1:14 (ESV)
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. - John 8:24 (ESV)
I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins. - Colossians 2:9 (NKJV)
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
3) Everyone must repent of their sins, be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost!
- Luke 24:45-49 (NKJV)
45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. 46 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And you are witnesses of these things. 49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” - John 3:5 (ESV)
Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. - Acts 2:1-4 (ESV)
1 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. - Acts 2:37-39 (ESV)
37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
4) Everyone must live holy and separated lives, acceptable to God!
- Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. - 2 Corinthians 7:1 (MSG)
With promises like this to pull us on, dear friends, let’s make a clean break with everything that defiles or distracts us, both within and without. Let’s make our entire lives fit and holy temples for the worship of God.
- Holiness starts inwardly, but also progresses outwardly. Being holy means thinking right, living right, speaking right, dressing right… being holy and separate means I ask “what would Jesus do” and really mean it… Being holy and separate means there are places I don’t visit in person or online… God compels me to “be holy for He is holy” and since we are in love with the Commander, it’s easy to keep His commandments!
5) We are not saved by works, but we are saved to do good works!
- Ephesians 2:8-10 (ESV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
6) Jesus Christ will return to conquer death and bring the Church (His Bride) into eternity with Him!
- 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 (ESV)
51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (ESV)
16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
